Inkwell is a service operated by Axleron/Inkwell ("we", "us", "our"). We act as the data controller for personal data collected through this website and the Inkwell document generator.

2. Data we collect

• Account & contact data: email address, name (when provided).
• Document inputs: business name, jurisdiction, and details you enter into the generator.
• Usage & device data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps.
• Support communications: messages you send us.
• Payment data: processed by Stripe (see Section 4). We receive transaction metadata only, not full card details.

3. How we use your data & legal basis

• To provide the generator and deliver purchased documents (contract performance).
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and secure the service (legitimate interests).
• To improve features and fix bugs (legitimate interests).
• To respond to support requests (contract / legitimate interests).
• To comply with legal and tax obligations (legal obligation).

4. Data sharing

We share personal data with:

• Stripe — our payment processor. Stripe handles checkout, card processing, fraud screening, and (where enabled) sales-tax calculation, collection, and dispute handling. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers used to run the service.
• AI model providers that draft document text from your inputs.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
• Authorities when required by law.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses to safeguard your data.

6. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, to comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax and payment records held by Stripe), or to resolve disputes. Generator inputs you do not save are not retained after your session.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR for EU/UK and CCPA/CPRA for California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your data, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. We respond within one month. Contact us at the address in Section 10 to exercise any right.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices — to protect personal data.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies required for the site to function and limited analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. Stripe may set cookies during checkout to process your payment and prevent fraud.
